The Gooner's Gear Guide - Everything You Need for a Session

Whether you're setting up your first goon cave or optimizing an existing one, this guide covers everything you might need for longer, deeper, more comfortable sessions.

The Essentials

These are the things you actually need, versus the things that are nice to have.

Lube

You need lube. This is non-negotiable for any session over 10 minutes. Without it, you'll chafe, lose sensitivity, and cut your session short.

The standard: Coconut oil. Cheap, natural, perfect slip, safe with toys. A $10 jar lasts months. The marathon option: Albolene. Oil-based, lasts hours without reapplication. Not toy-safe. The toy option: Water-based lube. Safe with everything, easy to clean, needs reapplication.

Towel

Designate a session towel. You'll need it for cleanup, for your hands between lube applications, and for the general mess of extended sessions. Having a specific towel means you don't have to think about cleanup logistics mid-session.

Hydration

Keep water within arm's reach. Extended sessions are physically demanding. Dehydration affects precum production, comfort, and recovery.

The Comfort Layer

Seating

You'll spend hours in one position. Your seating choice matters.

Good options: A comfortable office chair with good lumbar support. A recliner. A bed with enough back support to prevent slouching.

Bad options: Hard chairs. Stools. The floor. Anything that puts pressure on your perineum (a "numb dick" is not the goal).

Temperature

Minimum: One screen at eye level, positioned so you don't have to strain your neck. Optimal: Two screens - one main, one secondary. Or one large screen with split content. Maximum: Whatever keeps you in the state. Practitioners report setups with two monitors, two iPads, and a phone.

Audio

Good audio is more important than good video for maintaining immersion.

Options:

  • Headphones for total immersion (blocks outside noise, keeps sound private)

The Cleanup Layer

Wipes

Keep a pack of wipes nearby. They're faster than getting up and washing. Useful for lube cleanup, precum management, and general maintenance between content switches.

Hand towel

A small hand towel for wiping lube off your hands before touching your keyboard/mouse/phone. Lube on electronics is a nightmare.

Post-session cleanup

After a long session, you'll want: warm water, mild soap, and a dedicated towel. Some practitioners set up a small cleanup station - a tray with wipes, a towel, and a change of nearby clothes - so they can transition from session to normal life without a full production.
